Custom Home Design

Designing your house should be exciting and fun. You'll find our Custom Design services blend good times with a good dose of practical considerations that minimize your hidden gotchas and cost overruns.

Make a House Your Home

You may have a floor plan and wish to delve deeper into the layout with small space saving options. You might want to move walls around, add some new architectural elements, or try out varying aesthetic styles to ensure the right fit for your new home. Fast-Track customer may wish to establish a look that wraps your new home shell or interior details prior to pulling the trigger on producing a package for your new home.

Custom Home Design

Our custom small home and tiny house design process includes:

  • Floor Plan - Depending on what you have in place, we'll either start with one of our existing models, trace your graph paper floor plans, or model from a blend of favorite designs.

  • Shape Design - Here we'll consider roof lines, awnings, overhangs, sheds, porches, steps, and general window and door placement.

  • Optimization - Lastly, we'll get down to specifics. We'll make accommodations for standard SIP sizes, account for thicker walls, apply proper roof pitches, add supporting architectural members, position windows and doors to specific locations and apply actual rough openings.

Supporting Your Needs

Our mutual goal here is a build-ready design. We'll work as a team throughout the early process, and you are welcome to attend the design session in person or attend live using a web-based screen sharing service. After the initial work is complete, you'll review the models while we tweak the designs in real time.

At any point in the process, especially early on, we are happy to provide an estimate for production of your cabin, cottage, or tiny house. This will ensure that what you're planning fits your budget and expectations of space, appeal, and DIY capability.
